:The basic facts about Connie Brittion Birthname: Constance
Womack
Connie, who's real name is Constance Womack,
was born in Boston, Massachusetts.
Connie was involved in the theater while growing up. She majored in Asian studies at Dartmouth College (class of 1989). She even spent a term in Beijing learning Chinese. "Practically, it never comes in handy, not even in a Chinese restaurant," she says, "But I'm so glad I did it, because it's important for an actress to have an extensive vision of the world." Connie Womack met John Britton at Dartmouth, and they moved together to New York in 1989. They were married in 1991 and divorced in 1995. While living in New York, she spent two years at the Neighborhood Playhouse studying with Sanford Meisner, and an additional two years performing in regional theater and off-Broadway productions. But it was an audition she almost didn 't attend that was her big break. After nearly canceling her meeting for "The Brothers McMullen" (1995) since it was scheduled at an inconvenient time, she met with director Ed Burns as the last audition of his day, and was cast on the spot. Eight months of shooting on weekends and odd hours followed, and no one in the cast had an inkling of the fame and success that would ensue. Connie moved to Los Angeles after "The Brothers McMullen" and soon got an agent. Since then she worked on TV two pilots, "The Precinct" and "Pins and Needles," and the cable movie, "Escape Clause," a murder mystery in which she starred opposite Andrew McCarthy and Paul Sorvino. During her time on the TV show "Spin City" Connie lived an apartment in the SoHo area of New York City. Also living in the same apartment building as Connie were talk show host Conan O'Brien and model Cindy Crawford. After several years on the TV show Spin
City, Connie had a brief role on the show "The Fugitive" as Dr Kimble's
sister. She was cast on the sitcom "The Fighting Fitzgerlads" in 2001,
where she played the mother in a Irish-American Family. This show lasted
only a half a season. Connie then went on to a recurring role on TV show
The West Wing. In early 2003 Connie costarred in the ABC sitcom "Lost At
Home" that aired for a short run in April 2003. In May 2003, Connie appeared
in an Off-Broadway play, "The Exonerated" at 45 Bleecker Theater in New
York City, NY. Connie had a role in the 2004 movie "Friday Night Lights",
playing the wife of the high school footbal coach (Billy Bob Thorton).
For the 2005-2006 TV season, Connie joined the cast of the FOX TV show
"24" for a few episodes. For the 2006-2007 TV season, Connie co-stared
in the critically acclaimed NBC show "Friday Night Lights", based on the
movie of the same name, that Connie was also in.
